Paint correction Grand Rapids swirl and scratch removal on vehicle clear coat

What is Paint Correction?

Paint correction uses machine polishing to level your clear coat and permanently remove visible defects—swirl marks, fine scratches, water spots, and oxidation. Unlike waxes and glazes that mask issues, true correction restores clarity and depth so the color looks rich and mirror-like.

We select the right compounds, polishes, and pad systems (from fine foam to microfiber and wool) based on paint hardness, defect level, and your goals.

Cut & Protect (Standalone Add-On)

A fast, single-step cut paired with a sealant that adds gloss and short-term protection. Great as an add-on to exterior details when you want a noticeable boost without a multi-step correction.

Paint Correction Levels

Level 1 – 1-Step Correction

Removes light swirls and mild oxidation with a single polishing step for a crisp, glossy finish. Ideal for newer paint or as part of a pre-coating prep when defects are minimal.

From $250

Level 2 – 2-Step Correction

A cut stage (microfiber/coarse foam) followed by a refining polish to eliminate low-to-mild scratches and heavier oxidation—roughly the correction of Level 1.

From $500

Level 3 – 3-Step Correction

Deep restoration for neglected finishes: aggressive cut (wool or blue coarse pad), intermediate polish, and final jeweling to recover clarity and depth from mild-to-heavy defects.

From $800

Paint Correction & Ceramic Coatings

Planning on a ceramic coating? Correction is mandatory. Coatings lock in whatever is on the surface—so swirls and haze become permanent if not corrected first. We recommend Level 1–3 (based on inspection) for coating prep.

When correction is complete, a ceramic layer seals the perfected finish for long-term gloss, easier washing, and UV/chemical resistance.

Paint Correction FAQs

How long does paint correction take?

Typically 4–12 hours depending on level, vehicle size, and paint condition.

Will paint correction remove every scratch?

It removes most swirls and light-to-moderate scratches. Deep cuts through clear coat may remain visible.

Is Cut & Protect okay before a ceramic coating?

No, Cut & Protect is a standalone service and should not be used as coating prep. Use Level 1–3 correction for coatings.

How do I keep the finish looking great after correction?

Adopt proper wash technique and consider a ceramic coating or regular maintenance details to preserve gloss.
